Survivors, Take part in 2012!

Thank you to all of the survivors for the last Relay for coming along and sharing Relay 2011 with us making it a very enjoyable and successful one.

Hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did and hope to see you all again next relay!

Any survivor wishing to take part in Relay as a team captain or team member only needs to register ONCE as part of their team, and not seperately as a survivor.

We are finding that this new system is not allowing you to go ahead and register in a team if you have already registered as a survivor, It does however show us that you wish to take part as a survivor from your team registration application.

Also new for Relay 2012 If you wish as a survivor to bring along with you for the day your carer/supporter, cancer research uk are providing us with carer T shirts available on the day from Lynn Williams. I just need you to notify me of this and sizes of T shirts required, to enable me to get them ordered ready for the event.
A carer is someone that has been there for you, supported you through your treatment, driven you to the hospital etc.

Survivors are the reason we do Relay for Life Evesham.

A survivor is anyone who has ever heard the words “You have cancer”. And we invite all cancer survivors in the community to attend Relay For Life.

Our goal is to create a world where more people survive cancer so they can celebrate another birthday. This year more than 11 million people will be able to do that thanks to the support of millions of dedicated Relay participants.

Survivors are the guests of honor at Relay. Some Relay For Life events may offer survivors special T-shirts hold a special reception for survivors and caregivers. However, most Relays open with the Survivors Lap where survivors lead the way around the track while being honored and applauded by all participants.

Being a part of the Survivors Lap allows survivors to celebrate what they’ve overcome while inspiring and motivating their community to fight. Survivors are proof that cancer can be defeated.

Relay For Life is also a great way for people to meet other survivors in their own community. In many communities, survivors form their own teams, join the Relay committee, or volunteer for Evesham Relay
